The Spine
This continent is aptly named, the tall mountain peaks and long valleys of the long winding area paralleling the Spine of the Dragons that live within its borders. Despite the difficulties that can be posed in reaching corners of the continent for those not blessed with it’s inhabitants gifts, it s a posing place in the sky, its range covering snow peaked mountains in thee north, to Volcanic and arid planes in the south. There are few places to cross by it, serving as a divider to the world, a land imposed barrier.
For those that have traveled within the Spine, the inhabitants are as varied as the land itself. Indeed, Dragons are the main inhabitants of the country, but the sheer difference in them can create those who when taking their dragon form range from the classic European Dragon, to almost sand beasts, their body long and wingless. Though they are different in appearance, they still stand as the same species.
A deeply magical race, they have adapted over time to fit in more with the others on thee planet. A human form exists for all Dragons, the color of their scales matching with their hair or eyes in almost all situations. Able to blend in like this, some can go completely unrecognizably among their peers, while others choose to retain tails, scales, and even wings, a benefit in the sky.
Dragons, even spread out as they are, have one main ruler, the Dragon Lord, who oversees things from his castle in the center of his spine. Under him, there are separate royal families that take the job of protecting and overseeing their own segregated areas. While the royal families are a lineage, leaders following their fathers, the Dragon Lord is a position that is appointed by the preceding Dragon Lord, not necessarily having to be of their offspring.
For a race so different from most of their co-inhibitors for the planet, they have developed an equal number of allies and enemies, though their trade abilities have left them as a fairly rich people. Pirates, traders, and armed ships have left its ports to take their place in the sky, like everyone else.
