These are the Positions that can be filled on each ship on this site.
If there's something not here that you want to be, PM the captain of the ship you want to be a part of with your request.
Ship Positions
Necessary; (Can fill another Optional or Minor role, save for Surgeon, in addition)
Captain- (Can fill another Necessary role)
First Mate- (Can fill any other position as well, including Surgeon)
Helmsman- (Can be substituted for by only the Captain or First mate)
Navigator- (Can be substituted by Captain, First mate, and Helmsman)
Deckhands- (# needed and # allowed decided by Captain) (( Any crew member counts as one of these))
Optional; (Able to fill a Minor role in addition)
Surgeon/Doctor- (Strictly limited too this role, can only be lookout or jester in addition)
Chef
Shipwright/Mechanic
Gunner/Sharpshooter - (Can also be the cannoneer and vice versa)
Cannoneer- (Can also be the gunner and vice versa)
Swashbuckler
Minor; (Able to fill another Optional or Minor role in addition, except Surgeon)
Cabin Boy- (Can only fill another position if allowed by Captain)
Jester/Musician- (Can be filled by any crewmate as an extra)
Distiller- (Cannot be filled by Shipwright)

Light description of each
Captain: Obvious
First mate: Fills Captain’s spot upon death. Relays orders, second in command.
Helmsman: Steers the ship, works closely with navigator.
Navigator: Reads maps too find a route to a destination.
Deckhands: Operate the deck of the ship, ex; rowing, opening and closing the sails.
Surgeon/Doctor: Resuscitates injured men, makes compounds to stave off sickness.
Chef: Knows how to cook food that won’t kill the crew
Shipwright/Mechanic: Maintains the well being of the ship, repairing breaks, and fine tuning worn out pieces.
Gunner/Sharpshooter: Especially experienced or talented at operating long range weapons like pistols.
Cannoneer: An individual whom operates a cannon well. Good at timing when it will cause the most damage- a good aim.
Swashbuckler: Someone whom excels in sword fighting, often armed with a cutlass or rapier.
Cabin boy: A person chosen by the Captain, who performs various tasks for the Captain, as well as other crewmates, ex; relaying messages, getting things. May be raped at any time.
Jester/musician: Keeps morale high and relieves tension.
Distiller: Keeps morale high. Makes Alcoholic beverages for drinking. One of the more sought after crew members.
Lookout: Keeps and eye for landmasses, enemy ships, possible targets of opportunity.
Engineer: Upgrades or creates items for the usage of the crew.
Powder monkey: One of the lowest ranked and dangerous positions; mixes gunpowder or black powder for the use in cannons and pistols. (Usually filled by those kidnapped from other ships)
Swabbie: Lowest ranked position, keeps the ship clean. (an uphill battle)
