"What clothes you got that you don't mind getting dirty?"
This was a ship, the 'supplies' mostly consisted of what could be used, salvaged, or not sold. It had taken them enough time to pay for good sails, let alone the small details. But if you had to buy everything, you were losing too much of your hard earned gold.
Blankets had been stitched together out of sacks, old shirts and curtains, while some of the doors had just been pieces of scrap laying around. At some point, this ship had barely had enough parts to call it a ship. But now, with a lot of work, creativity, and stick to it, they'd made it work.
Ciath led Yuki towards the back of the ship, three large barrels covered, standing apart and marked with a black, red, and green X. Knocking on the lids, the sound of sloshing water inside echoing back in reply, Ciath explained more of Yuki's task. "Water isn't exactly a luxury we have, so when we go get it, we take care of it. Green stuff is for drinking. That's why it's locked. You get a canteen full a day. Don't waste it."
"The Red one's for cooking, the boiling and stuff, or whatever, it works. We only use black for the dirty stuff. Cleaning, cooling, whatever. But even then, don't waste it. We need to wait for it to rain to fill these things up half the time, and trust me, if it's empty cause you turned this place into a sterile environment, no one will be happy. Just, clean up the blood and most of the major stuff."

"I got some work clothes in my pack." The pack he spoke of was right beside him where he had left it when he first dropped Ciath on his face. Yuki lifted it over his shoulder and began following the other, taking in little details on the way. After all, he was new to the ship and had a lot to learn about the place.
The small incubus looked over the barrels, taking in every word. It was a good thing he didn't really need a lot of water or food to survive. But hell, he wanted to seem at least seem more like a human or an elf. His kind was rare and not exactly as well accepted, but obviously more well accepted than dragons.
"Trust me I won't, I'll make it just good enough that it looks clean." Yuki gave a little wink. He set his pack down, it didn't have a lot in it at the moment, a change of clothes, a blanket, extra bullets and extra gun powder. Hands went to the sash around his waist and he started pulling his shirt off. "I'll get started right off then.. don't wanna seem too lazy." He said with a little laugh. If Ciath was watching him now, which wouldn't really come as a surprise if he was, Ciath would see a tattoo at the base of Yuki's spine. It was of an upside down flame with a hole in the middle of it. "Uh.. am I scrubbing on my hands and knees or do I get a mop?"

"Hands and knees. Or, you could find a stick or something, and tie your work clothes to it. You'll learn pretty soon that everything is gonna become work clothes. Only the Captain and First mate get anything that looks half way decent."
It was true. He'd hate to admit it to anyone, but the vest he was wearing was a gift from his mother. She was a smart woman, and it actually suited well enough for his lifestyle. But by now, it was stained, ripped, and torn. It looked just like every other stitch of fabric on this thing.
"And don't worry, most people aren't that up in arms about following protocol, as long as you do what the Captain says. And you know, make sure the ship doesn't fall apart. Again."

Yuki could have groaned, he had really liked that red shirt he'd just taken off. It was soft and it hugged his body in just the right ways. He guess it was going to be staying in his bag for a long ass time now. Maybe there were times when he was a little bit vain to be a pirate, but hey. He could live like this. Though suddenly it hit him that with the lack of water meant lack of bathing. Maybe he could step into an incinerator or something.. burn all the dirt off his body.
"Hands and knees it is then." The shorter male said as he pulled the loose shirt on, once more covering the guns he'd revealed just a moment ago. He tied the sash back around his waist and looked up at Ciath. "So are you in complete charge of me since you found me first? Or am I going to need to talk to the Captain soon or the first mate or some one else..?" He asked this while rolling his sleeves up then unbuckling the leather harness for his derringer. Yuki really hoped he wouldn't be needing that while scrubbing the deck.

He was supposed to bring all new recruits to the Captain. Dynast had made some big deal about stow a ways or something a while ago, and made sure that all new crew members reported to him when on board. But...this was his chance. Even after all his connections, he was still one of the lowest ranked members of the ship. This sailor could end up being the first thing he needed into gaining more power. Yuki could be his protégé, his disciple. This could be the beginning of his turn in power...
"Nah. The Captain doesn't need to be bothered with this. We'll just get you busy, and I'll let him know. When you run into him, you run into him. But I'll make sure personally that you keep yourself in line here. Course, that’s what we gotta do, look out for each other. We're practically family now, being crew mates."
Leaning back, pressed maybe a bit to far back over the railing, Ciath watched as Yuki got down on his hands and knees. So, this is what he had, this is what he'd get to work with. And if Ciath was going to work with him, he'd need to get to know everything about him.
Boot pushing into Yuki's lower back, he shoved him lightly, toe touching the tattoo on his lower back. "Wasat mean?"

Well, it seemed a little odd. Well, Dynast was expecting him, so he'd probably just told the other crew members if he saw him to put him to work. That made sense, keep him doing Captain like things that probably kept him terribly busy. "Oh.. sure.." Family? Yeah, Yuki had one. He had a whole clan but they weren't exactly close. And he'd drifted away from them when his breeding age came up, he might be an incubus but he was still a male. No babies out his ass thank you very much. "I'll make sure I watch your back too." He said with a small laugh. Not that he really knew what he should be watching out for. Good gods he was such a newbie.
There was a blood on the deck not far from where ther water was so he'd figured he'd start there. He could feel Ciath staring at him, but what did he expect? He was on his hands and knees. Yuki wasn't used to being stared at cause some one was trying to figure him out or things like that.
The toe shove was a little surprising. He blinked and reached back to touch it with a shrug. "Eh.. nothing really. Old.. family thing. think they tatt'd it on me the first time I got drunk or something." Not a complete lie, but not the complete truth either.

He knew he had no right to cast the first stone. Looking back upon his own pages, his history read far from the normal childhood. There was no father, at least not while he was young and raised by a young mother who knew little about what a child needed. Raised on stories from the men that came through the inn his mother worked at, it almost seemed as if his life had been nothing but growing expectations about the world he has hearing about beyond the tiny room next to the kitchen he shared with his mother. Ciath would never speak badly of his mother. Despite the hard times they suffered through, there was no doubt that he was loved. Many men had fallen for the youthful innocence and energy that he’d inherited from her, but she had stayed with him.
It had been Ryu and Dynast coming back into his life that changed things. A strange pair, his father figures. Sometimes he could still clearly hear his mother crying as he told her he was leaving with them. Who knew when, but he had promised her he’d come back. Until then, he’d let himself get caught up here. And despite the fact that he’d been shown more cruelty and terror in the few months he had spent away from home, it was his new home.
“That doesn’t sound like something a family member would do. I mean, Ryu may have stolen from Dynast, but, that’s a weird part of their dysfunctional love story. I don’t think I know anybody that would tattoo someone when they were drunk .”

"Heh.. I.. guess there's no body that bad on this ship then. At least not.. towards family.." Yuki sort of mumbled towards Ciath. Family was a strange thing for incubi, and even more strange were their clans.
The current patriarch of Yuki's clan was his great-grandfather, which really didn't mean anything. No special treatment or any of that bull shit. If anything the whole clan was a little harder and had higher expectations for him. Somewhat like Ciath, Yuki was raised mostly by his mother. But totally unlike the boy he'd just met, he heard no stories of his father. At most he heard rumors of things like his father was a human and that was why he was so weak.
Though he wasn't weak in a way that most people, people from normal walks of life, would expect. Yuki was still strong enough to take what he wanted when it came to material goods. But he was considered weak in his clan cause of his reserves about having sex with anything that moved. Which was considered a great disrespect in claiming incubi heritage. Sure, he had sex but not nearly as much as other members of his race. Because of it his powers came late and weren't very strong even still.
In an effort to force him to be proud of who and what he was, several members had held him down and forced the mark upon him so he could never really renounce the clan. Reaching back his fingers traced against it before he realized he'd totally stopped working. When it hit him he began to scrub harder and faster. "So uh.. Ryu or Dynast is your family then?" No wonder he had authority.
